Dorothea Dix Park has long been a part of the downtown Raleigh landscape and is beloved - for good reason - by many who live and work here. On July 24th of this year, the City of Raleigh made it official and bought the property from the state so that it can be a permanent fixture for residents to enjoy.

The property is full of grand trees, rolling hills, historic buildings, and arguably the best view of Raleigh's skyline. If you haven't explored the 300 acres just south of downtown we recommend changing that as soon as possible... as in next week.

We want to make sure you - those who have been enjoying Dorothea Dix for years and those who have never been - get a chance to share with us your view of the park. Next week we'll be kicking off the #MyDorotheaDix photo scavenger hunt and we'd love for you to join us.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • Follow us on Instagram.
  • Every morning we'll be posting that day's photo prompt. Share your photo find on Instagram with the tag #MyDorotheaDix.
  • Each day we'll be reposting our favorite photo along with a small prize.
  • Join us for events in the park with Happy and Hale, Fleet Feet, and Oak City Cycling.
  • At the end of the week, all participants will be entered into a random drawing to win our grand prize. Every photo shared will count as one entry so finding each day's prompt means five chances to win!

We can't wait to explore the park with you and see Dorothea Dix through your eyes.
